Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

This policy explains how the BrewLog iOS app handles data. BrewLog does not require an account. Core brew records are stored on your device.

Data stored on your device

Brew records, coffee beans, recipes, tasting scores, and notes that you enter are stored by the app on your device. BrewLog does not automatically upload this local data to its servers. When you export or share a file, it is handled by the destination you choose.

QR scanning and Google ML Kit

When you use QR scanning, the app accesses the camera after you grant permission and uses Google ML Kit Barcode Scanning to recognize QR codes on your device. Google says the input images and recognition results are processed on-device and are not sent to Google by ML Kit.

ML Kit may still send API performance and usage metrics to Google. It may also connect to Google services for fixes, models, or hardware compatibility information. Metrics may include:

Google says these data help maintain, diagnose, and improve ML Kit and detect abuse. See ML Kit Terms and Privacy and ML Kit iOS App Store data disclosure.

BrewLog analytics and network services

BrewLog does not automatically send its own usage events to BrewLog. In app versions that provide local event recording, the feature is off by default. If enabled, the app stores up to 200 coarse event records on this device, such as event category, feature entry point, plan category, result code, and date (day precision). These records do not include an account identifier, bean name, recipe content, brew notes, or photos. Versions with this feature let you turn it off in Me → Settings; doing so deletes saved events.

Only when you tap Share aggregate summary does the app create an aggregate JSON file (without individual event rows) and open the system share sheet. You choose where the file is sent or handled; the selected service may process it under its own policies. This local feature is separate from the technical metrics handled by the third-party scanning SDK described above. Remote content sync is currently disabled. If data practices change, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy information.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store payments. BrewLog uses purchase status provided by StoreKit to unlock features; it does not receive your credit card number or Apple Account password. Apple handles subscription management, cancellation, and refund requests.

Advertising and tracking

BrewLog does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising and does not include an advertising SDK. This statement does not replace the App Store Connect privacy label, which must reflect data handling by the app and third-party SDKs in each submitted build.
